A multistate salmonella outbreak has been linked to Emek-brand pistachio cream, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
“CDC and public health officials in two states are investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to pistachio cream,” the CDC said on its website. “Do not eat, sell, or serve Emek-brand pistachio cream with a use by date of October 19, 2026.”
According to the CDC, there have been four cases in the outbreak in Minnesota and New Jersey, with one hospitalization.
The CDC’s website said the pistachio cream might “be packaged in a 5-kilogram white tub.”
In late May, the Food and Drug Administration upgraded a recall on tomatoes sold by Williams Farms Repack, also due to potential contamination with salmonella.
In April, the United States Department of Agriculture said it was withdrawing a proposed rule from former President Biden’s recent term that would restrict salmonella levels in raw poultry.
The rule would have made corporations test contamination levels in chicken and poultry infected with strains tied to the meat-borne disease.
